Welcome to

Katie Lister Therapy

Counselling and Psychotherapy in North Leeds and online.

My name is Katie Lister and I’m a counsellor and psychotherapist providing both short and long-term therapy for adult individuals online and in-person at HealthWise in North Leeds.

I know that reaching out for help can be daunting, but it is a first positive step to address whatever your issues might be.

People seek therapy for various reasons. It might be that you don’t feel happy, or you’re anxious or depressed and want to make changes in your life but you’re not sure how. Patterns of behaviour that you developed a long time ago may now feel frustrating and unhelpful.

Good therapy can help you to better understand these patterns and, when necessary, challenge them and how you see yourself. This awareness can help you become a more authentic and resilient version of yourself.

I'm an Integrative counsellor and therapist working in Chapel Allerton in North Leeds and online. I use evidence-based therapy approaches (e.g. relational, compassion-focused, person-centred) that are tailored to suit your needs. I see you as an active participant in the therapy, and I adjust my approach depending on your individual concerns and preferences.

If you're struggling with difficult feelings or feel unable to live your life the way you want to, get in touch to arrange an informal telephone conversation.

I provide a genuine and encouraging relationship, and a confidential space to talk things through

Qualifications & training

I have a postgraduate diploma in Counselling & Psychotherapy and I’m a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors & Psychotherapists (BACP) which means I work to a set code of ethical practice. If you feel you might like to work with me, please get in touch for an informal conversation.

Is therapy for me?

If you’re experiencing emotional or relational difficulties that are having an impact on your quality of life, then therapy may be helpful for you.  I can support you with a wide range of issues such as; anxiety, relationship difficulties, persistent low mood or depression, low self-esteem, and grief, loss, or change.

It's really important to feel ready for therapy and to be prepared to be open and honest, even though it can be challenging. I provide a safe and compassionate space to make this feel possible either in person (at HealthWise Therapy Centre in Chapel Allerton, North Leeds) or online.

What next?

Research shows that the effectiveness of any counselling or psychotherapy depends on the quality of the relationship between the therapist and client regardless of the type of therapy. So, our connection has to feel right. Get in touch via email and we can arrange a brief, informal telephone chat. This way, I can learn more about you and what you're seeking from therapy, and we can both determine if we're a good fit. I’m passionate about helping people improve their psychological wellbeing and supporting their personal growth because I know from experience how life-changing the therapeutic process can be.

It's important to find a therapist you feel you connect with and with whom you can be fully honest
